I needed a weekend like we just had – it was exactly what I needed to feel like myself again. I needed to head out of the city on Friday night and spend an evening sitting around the fire. I needed to disconnect, sleep in a tent and drink coffee while walking the dog along the river.
I needed to work in my yard, and finally get some projects done instead of doing chores that always seem to come back. I built a new bed, which really cleans up the yard.
I needed to get exercise outside. We rode around on our bikes, and it didn’t hurt that Village Ice Cream was along our route.
I needed to dig in the dirt and finally get my garden ready for summer. I planted, I cleaned up the compost and I got the watering system hooked up.
I needed the balance of fun adventures and enjoyable chores. And for the first time in a while, I’m not heading back to work feeling like I missed something. It was a very busy weekend, but somehow felt really refreshing. I’m looking forward to many more summer weekends!
