Hmm… this week I worked out more times than I ate turkey dinner so I consider that a win!
Monday – 5.25 mile run
I decided that it would be a good idea to start with a regular running program again so today was speed work day. I ran 8 x 400 m (with 400 m RI) for a total of 5.25 miles. I’m certainly slower than I was last time I tried speed work but it felt good to be out there again.
Tuesday – 4 mile run
I sort of forgot on Monday that I had to run to a cross-country running meet on Tuesday so I had back to back runs. This one was a very broken up run – 1.5 miles to the meet, a mile running around taking care of things, and then 1.5 miles back home.
Wednesday and Thursday – Rest
Both these days turned into unplanned rest days. I had a board meeting and then dinner plans so I just couldn’t arrange my time to fit in a workout.
Friday – 3 mile walk with Patches, 3 mile ride
Patches and I went for a nice walk on Nose Hill to enjoy the fall weather. Then I rode by bike downtown for a drink, and Jon drove me home after (for a pizza and movie night).
Saturday – 6 km (ish) hike
We joined friends and their children for an easy walk on Yamnuska. We didn’t make it as far as last time but still enjoyed our outting. Patches got to join us as this was a perfect difficulty and distance for the old guy. The weather was beautiful and it was nice to still be out hiking in October (without any snow this time).
Sunday – swim workout
We did an easy swim workout (just about 750 m, lots of work on our turns). It was nice to be back in the pool (I have to make it more often). Then we had turkey dinner #1 (mmm…).
I have this week off so I’m hoping to fit in a little more exercising. I seem to have done something to my heel (ugh – and while out walking with the dog) but I hoping a few days of rest from running will fix it up quickly.
