Ironman April – and Getting Back on Track

I can’t believe that it is April 8th already. I feel like we were just saying how we couldn’t believe it was April 1 while we were on vacation. This month is just flying by!

I didn’t post a summary of last week’s workouts because I just didn’t work out. We went hiking on our vacation, but before and after I did nothing more strenuous than walk the dog. Which wouldn’t bother me too much if it was a one-off but this lack of exercising has been more frequent than I’d like. And it, combined with some less than stellar eating habits, have led to me feeling a little uncomfortable in my body – my work pants were just a little to snug today.

Last march I participated in Ironman March – hosted by Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point – which really kept me focused through a busy month. This year I noticed she was having an Ironman April instead which is the perfect motivation I need to workout through what is going to be a busy month for me. I know it is already the second week of April, but I figure the shortened time frame actually works better with the intensity level I’d like for my training. Actually, with the school commitments I have this month (and the fact I didn’t work out last week), I’ve only got 19 possible workout days which means completing the 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run will require me to stick to my training schedule.

 

I had a sweaty 1.5 hour trainer session last night (which felt great) and a track repeat run tonight (which felt so slow) so I’m making progress already. Now I just need to get my mini-egg cravings under control!
