Half Marathon Training Week 8

At the end of another week already! Fall weather is here now and I think I’m going to have to buy some new fall running clothes. I’ve got shorts or winter wear and it’s not the weather for either of those options these days.

Monday: weights +~ 5 miles
I’d planned to run without the dog for 3 miles and then pick up Patches for the remaining two but my Garmin was dead when I got home from school. So, the dog and I ran what I think was 2 miles while my GPS charged and then I did 3 more by myself.

Tuesday: 90 minute Bikram Yoga
Patches and I went out for a walk in the park and then I headed to the yoga studio.

Wednesday: weights + 3 miles
Finished off my last workout in stage 1 in the morning, and then the dog and I went for easy 3 mile run after work.

Thursday: 5 miles
I did the exact same workout as last Thursday – run by myself and then a long walk with the dog. It’s a nice way to finish off the week but I was super tired by the time we were done.

Friday: rest
I skipped yoga to head out with friends after work. I needed a night off, but was still home early to get a good sleep before my long weekend run.

Saturday: 12 miles
It was raining so I bundled up and did my 12 miles. It was cool out (I wore my jacket) and I felt sluggish but finished 4 minutes faster than last week. I spent a large portion of what remained of my day lesson planning, and was in my PJs by 7:30.

Sunday: 90 minute Bikram yoga class
I don’t think the 12pm class is a good time for me – my tummy was growling even before class started and I just didn’t have any energy. I was happy that I’d made the time to go, but partially because I treated myself to a smoothie after class.

Weekly Total: 25 miles, 2 strength workouts and 2 yoga classes

Exactly like last week! Week 9 (the current week) is going to have a little less activity but a little break will do me good.
