We woke to a beautiful sunny morning and decided that the perfect way to enjoy it was to take the dog berry picking along the river. The Saskatoon berries are just starting to ripen and I wanted to get my hands on some. We spent a very happy hour wandering along the path picking berries while the dog sniffed and swam. By the end of our walk we had collected a little over 4 cups of berries:
As soon as we got home from the walk and stored the berries in the fridge we headed out again but this time to the Kensington Sun and Salsa Festival. For $5 we picked up two bags of tortilla chips and started tasting our way through the salsa.
We probably only sampled 15 different salsas before we salsaed out, but since there were street venders, a strong man competition and lots of people to watch we had no trouble passing a few hours. It was really nice to spend so much time out enjoying the summer, even if I got a little sunburned. When got tired of the crowds (it was super hot) we headed home around to enjoy the rest of the afternoon and evening at home.
We so rarely have a Sunday without chores so it was really nice to spend so much time just hanging out. I’m already looking forward to a few more lazy weekends in August.
