End of the Month: June

With June came summer (finally!). We spent a pretty low-key month working and puttering in the garden. I made my first dish with stuff from our garden and our basement dried out. and  Let’s see how my goals for 2011 went!

Run a (nother) marathon –I crossed this off this list last month and haven’t run quite enough since. I only ran 30.5 km this month which is a little disappointing. I’m going to run more in July!

Take 5 photos a week for the whole year – 11 this month, which is better than last month.

Stop biting my nails – Still excellent!

Go on one canoe trip, one backpacking trip, one road trip and one camping trip in 2011 – The weather is finally warming up, so hopefully we’ll get out into the mountains soon!

Try something new once a month –in June I sang karaoke!

Take a photograph of the night sky – not yet

Go on a picnic for picnic sake – Debating what to eat. Our special picnic meal is crackers, cheese and pickles but maybe I should branch out?

Get my grocery budget to $75/week – We’ve been focusing more on organic and local so I might just have to give up on this one.

Cook one meal a week as a family – My cooking has not been awesome this month so while we have been cooking together, we haven’t been cooking anything exciting.

Bike/walk/bus more, drive less – I put new brake pads on my bike, and bought some lights so I’m ready to ride more.

Increase my backyard food production/eat locally
 – We’ve been buying more local food, and I harvested rhubarb from the backyard. We attended a workshop on gardening and bought a ton of new plants when they went on sale. Everything else is looking good!

Read 52 Books in One Year– I confess to reading many young adult novels this month including The Hunger Games. I’m at 30 books so far this year and I have a lot more on the reading list.

I’m looking forward to exercising more and enjoying the well deserved relaxation time on the deck in July. We got some lovely new-to-us patio furniture that hasn’t seen enough use.
