I’m heading to Norman Wells this week – my first big spell of field work since the winter. I’ve never been to Norman Wells, and since going somewhere new is the only positive thing about heading off into the field for 8 days, I’m using it to keep my spirits up.
I knew Norman Wells was up north, somewhere in the NWT, but wasn’t ever clear on exactly where. I feel that I should know sort of where I am when I’m in the field, so finding out where Norman Wells is was on tonight’s to-do list. A google earth search this evening pin-pointed the location – northwest of Yellowknife. Apparently its less than 100 km south of the Arctic Circle, making it the furthest north point I’ll have visited. At least that’s something!
